Types of Roofing
Single-Ply Flat Roof – TPO and EPDM
TPO (Thermoplastic Olefin) and EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) are factory-manufactured sheet membranes, available in varying thicknesses and sheet sizes and installed either fully adhered, mechanically attached or weighted down with ballast (rocks). Although available in different colors, TPO is typically a white membrane. In most instances EPDM will be black, but is also available white. These membranes are typically used when the roof pitch is below a 1/12.
Tapered Insulation Systems
Making use of the latest technology available, our staff will use tapered insulation designs to install a roofing system that will meet engineered specifications and provide adequate roof drainage to prevent excessive water ponding or shedding. And when architectural plans may cause drainage problems, our staff has the experience, knowledge and training to troubleshoot these issues on-site and implement alternative solutions.
Fabricated in our shop, parapet wall coping can be made from either steel, aluminum or copper to match the exact widths of your building walls, and can be connected to each other for water-proofing either by splice plates or standing seams.
Although metal roofing is more expensive than asphalt and composite shingles, it lasts much longer, with a life of 40-60 years. It is available in copper, 24 gauge steel or 0.032 aluminum in a wide array of colors. The availability of multiple panel profiles, including 5V crimp and standing seam, ensures you will be able to find a style to meet your project needs.
The most popular residential roofing system, asphalt shingles are available from several manufacturers in a wide range of styles and colors, with warranties ranging from 20 years to lifetime. The most basic and economical shingles are typically referred to “3-tab” shingles, as each shingle is manufactured to give the appearance of three separate shingle tabs.
An upgraded and increasingly more popular product is the architectural or dimensional shingle that uses a thicker shingle to provide a three-dimensional appearance on your roof. Beyond these, each shingle manufacturer produces their own premium, designer and luxury lines of shingles aimed at meeting the needs and styles of almost any homeowner or home design style. Clay and Concrete Tile
Clay tile is produced by baking molded clay into tile, concrete tile by combining Portland cement, sand and water. Both systems produce some of the most durable roofs, which with proper maintenance could last for 100 years or more. Although at increased costs, the unique and varying profiles of tile roofs provide a historic appearance that could greatly increase your houses curb appeal and value.
Wood Shakes and Shingles
Wood shakes and wood shingles are manufactured from western red cedar, cypress, pine and redwood trees. Their resistance to decay, moisture and insects allows for little to no maintenance, while lasting 30-40 years.
Roofing slate is a dense, durable, naturally occurring material that is essentially nonabsorbent. The color of slate is determined by its chemical and mineral composition. Because these factors differ in various regions, roofing slate can be obtained in a variety of colors, sizes and shapes.
Synthetic roofing products
Synthetic roofing products are manufactured products made to mimic asphalt shingles, concrete tile, clay tile, metal panels, slate, wood shakes and wood shingles. These products often contain recycled plastic and/or rubber as a key ingredient and are at times more affordable than their “real” counterparts due to savings in manufacturing or labor installation costs.
